Why do innovative smartphones fail?

Let me know if it sounds familiar: a company hosts an event, announces a new fancy looking crazy smartphone which plunges around the internet for a couple of days and then, nothing, it just disappears off the face of the planet. No more reviews, no more sales. But why is it so that the most innovative smartphones fail?
Old companies that are already doing well in the market, just like Samsung, build phones that are all rounded. They don't make fancy phones. But what about new companies and underrated ones? They are not even considered by the people. They do not have that good media coverage. So what do they do? Build fancy phones. May it be holographic displays or flipping cameras.
It then becomes exciting for the consumers, for the reviewers and for the media. This helps the company to grab a position.

I remember the Energizer Power Max p18k. It had 18000 mAh of battery. It was like a brand new beginning for the company. The YouTubers, reviewers, and the public were so fascinated. Many people showed a lot of interest. But when this phone was listed on Indiegogo, it recieved only 1% of the company's expectations. So what's the moral? While people talk about crazy, even share crazy, people don't buy crazy smartphones.
Why don't people buy crazy smartphones? It is because smartphone is a big investment. People buy and use smartphones for atleast 2 to 3 years. So people prefer buying an all rounder phone instead of a crazy phone. While buying a smartphone, people don't afford to make a mistake. So consumers are unwilling to take a chance and buy smartphones conventionally.

People prefer all rounded and hassle free smartphones which innovative phones can't deliver. The Asus ROG 3 phone, for instance, has better performance but compromises other specs. And the Zenfone from Asus which takes better selfies but average photos.
Thus, innovative smartphones fail. I would love to hear from you what do you think about this in the comments section below...
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!

Innovative smartphones do fail but they help other companies indirectly for ex- the essential phone PH-1, it was the first phone which had notch but after seeing the notch design apple took the idea to build the iPhone X and this was eventually copied by other companies also and now you will find nearly all phones have notch.
ReplyDeleteI certainly appreciate your opinion. The thing if helping that you said is correct, but I wanted to say that people don't prefer larger displays over compromised battery life or less efficient processor, vice versa. And after all, innovation is an inseparable component of developing technology. ☺️☺️☺️
