Why do we sweat?

Human body sweats in many situations like exercising, eating food containing capsaicin, nervousness, sickness, etc. But why do we sweat???

During exercising, our muscles demand for more energy. The energy is produced through a process called as cellular respiration. This process includes breakdown of glucose and oxygen to form Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) which is the energy currency of our cells. Due to the breakdown of substances, excess heat is produced. This heats up the body. As a result, our hypothalamus (a part in the brain which regulates body temperature) sends a signal to the sweat glands to produce sweat. Thus sweat is produced and our body cools down. This results in loss of water.

Some people also sweat when eating spicy food. The capsaicin in it triggers the hypothalamus.

When we are nervous, our blood flow increases. Our muscles do more activity and thus we sweat.

Haven't you shared my blog with others, then come on, don't sweat to do so...
