How do onions make us cry?
Why do onions make us cry?
Onions are made up of onion cells. When we cut an onion, millions of onion cells rupture. Thus, they release acidic chemicals called as amino acid sulfoxides and some sort of special enzymes. These released chemicals react with each other to form syn-Propanethial-S-oxide (C3H6OS). It is also a sulphur compound that stinks, just like most of other sulphur compounds. This is the reason behind onion's smell. This chemical formed is volatile (it easily turns into gas). When this substance reaches our eyes, it reacts with the liquid that keeps our eyes lubricated to form mild sulphuric acid. This gives us a burning sensation. In order to wash off the acid, our lacrimal glands produce disinfecting tears.
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
