Why are there only 7 days in a week? The credit goes all the way back to ancient Babylonians. How? Keep reading...

On studying the moon cycle, Babylonians observed that, approximately after every 7 days, the moon changed its phase, coining the idea of a 7-day week. Also, 7 was considered a mystical number, associated with the 7 heavenly bodies, the moon, earth and the 5 till then discovered planets. Number 7 was also very holy to the Jews, who kept the 7th day for rest and worship.

However, over time, names of the remaining days were mostly adapted from Norse Gods, that is, Thursday came from Thor, Friday from Freya, etc.

Ultimately, the 7-day week was standardized and adopted worldwide...
