Why can't we use phones in airplanes?
Frequent air travelers, you might have noticed that you are not allowed to use your mobile phones in airplanes. You are either asked to power it off or turn on airplane or flight mode. But why is it so?
Portable electronic devices like cell phones and tablets emit radio signals. These signals can interfere with the flight controls. They may also disrupt the communication with the air traffic controllers on the ground.
Besides this, cellular towers are miles below the airplane. Hence, cell phones try to emit a stronger radio signal to detect the network. This stronger radio waves of devices can increase the possibility of causing interference with the airplane electronic equipment.
Hence, portable electronic devices are told to be either turned off or to be kept on airplane mode or flight mode. This prevents the emission of radio signals, thus helping to keep all the on board equipment working properly.
Now don't blame the airplane staff for not using the phones. It's for your safety only...
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
