If we exist because Earth was able to develop life over time due to many factors like composition, proximity to sun, etc.; it is logical to assume that there are similar stars with similar planets with similar conditions that also has the chance to boast life. The problem comes in with the idea that with so many possible Earth like planets, why haven't we heard from any of them yet? That is, why haven't we encountered with aliens or why haven't we met extra-terrestrial life yet?

What is Fermi's Paradox?

For those who want to understand that why haven't we met extra-terrestrial life yet, the Fermi's Paradox must be known to them. So now, what is Fermi's Paradox??? Simply putting, the Fermi's Paradox is an idea about the existence or non-existence of extraterrestrial life. The Fermi's Paradox is named after the physicist Enrico Fermi and Michael H. Hart and that is why it is sometimes called the 'Fermi-Hart Paradox.' It was stated in 1950 and was known as the 'Fermi-Hart Argument.' It said that, "There are billions of the stars in the galaxy that are similar to the sun and many of them are billion years older than our solar system. With high probability, some of these could have Earth like planets, and if the Earth is typical, some may have developed intelligent life. Some of these civilizations have developed interstellar travel or some of them have not achieved it yet."

What is Drake's Equation?

The Drake's Equation is an argument according to Dr Frank Drake to estimate the number of active, communicativ extra-terrestrial  civilizations in our galaxy, it is closely related with the Fermi's paradox. The Drake's Equation is-

where:

N = the number of civilizations in our galaxy with which communication might be possible (i.e. which are on our current past light cone);
and

R∗ = the average rate of star formation in our galaxy
fp = the fraction of those stars that have planets
ne = the average number of planets that can potentially support life per star that has planets
fl = the fraction of planets that could support life that actually develop life at some point
fi = the fraction of planets with life that actually go on to develop intelligent life (civilizations)
fc = the fraction of civilizations that develop a technology that releases detectable signs of their existence into space

L = the length of time for which such civilizations release detectable signals into space

Does extra-terrestrial life exist?

Now according to SETI, either, the extra-terrestrial life doesn't exist or they are far advanced that we don't know their technology of communication.

NASA's Kepler has found 50 habitable exoplanets. But without existing life on it.

Why haven't we met extra-terrestrial life yet?

Now, why haven't we met extra-terrestrial life yet?

Many astronomers believe that extra-terrestrial people live underground. Thus just by looking at the planets we cannot get to know about aliens and their existence. Secondly, aliens might possibly live on planets with much more gravity than Earth and so the escape velocity is greater over there, which can be very difficult to achieve. Thus they cannot travel and meet us and vice versa. Thirdly, aliens might have existed long ago and might have been extinct now.

What is Panspermia Hypothesis?

Another hypothesis regarding this is called Panspermia Hypothesis. The hypothesis says that much of the life we see on Earth today didn't originate here but was "seeded" here millions of years ago by meteors carrying bacteria from other worlds. So probably, animals and insects that you see on Earth might be aliens👽👽👽

Conclusion:

We still don't know how many other intelligent life hosting planets are there or do they exist or not. Because if it is so, then we would have seen millions of spaceships and rockets in the space. But that is not the case.

Humanity can be the only civilization existing in the universe and so if we keep on depleting our own resources, no one is going to help us. So the bottom line is that we should save our environment unless we find an another alien civilization.

  1. I think there might be an alien civilization somewhere in the space.
We might also come across aliens as our space exploration increases over the time

    1. Yes. It might be. But it may take a long time to make that progress in the field of space exploration... 🛸🛸
