Sleeping consumes almost 8 to 12 hours of a day. One might think that instead of sleeping, something constructive can be done. This is a post for people who want to know what will happen if we stopped sleeping...
What happens when we stay awake for first 24 hours?
Being awake for first 24 hours won't make you feel tired or exhausted. Instead, you will feel more energetic. This will be a result of your brain secreting excess amount of Dopamine (a hormone). This hormone compensates sleep.
What happens when we stay awake for first 48 hours?
But this won't happen for a long time. After 48 hours of you being awake, your body will start having some problems. Your body won't be able to metabolize glucose properly at the first place. As a result, energy supply to your body parts will be reduced. So you will feel exhausted.
What happens when we stay awake for more than 48 hours?
Further sleep deprivation will weaken your immune system. You will start looking pale.
Due to sleep deprivation, you will easily get frustrated. You will start making impulsive decisions.
Continuing to stay awake will make you hallucinate. It will become difficult for you to distinguish between what is a hallucination and what is real.
Finally you will die. Yes. Researches and studies have proven that being awake for 14 days leads to death.
17 year old body Randy Gardner didn't sleep for 11 days 25 minutes, making the world record. However, this is not recommended.
Conclusion
It's better to sleep than to do something constructive in that time. As ill effects of not sleeping can be very fatal.

Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
