How to deal with negative comments on your blog?
This query is a very common query among many of them who have their own content on the internet. May it be bloggers, YouTubers, website owners, etc. Today I will be more concerned about how to deal with negative comments on your blog? And the reason is, I have recieved one recently. But this post is useful and also implies to websites, YouTube channels, social medias, etc. And yes. It might sound silly, but this question is also one of the important questions for people who have their own content on the internet. Now why such a silly question is important?
Why the way you deal with negative comments is important?
Tomorrow, if there is a negative comment or a negative reaction to your blog, website, YouTube channel, etc., the way you deal with it can determine the type of person you are. Let's say you reply rudely and harshly to the comment, it will show how rude you are with the public and this may reduce the traffic to your content. But then what should you do and how to deal with negative comments?
Why do people comment negative?
Before proceeding, you might ask that why do people comment negative? It is obvious to consider that people should always comment good on good content. But that is not the case. You know that haters are all around and also people who have grudge. Such haters comment negatively to make other people believe that this is a bad content. But a bad comment doesn't mean that your content is bad. Just don't demotivate yourself and keep blogging.
How to deal with negative comments?
Heading towards the solution... Under such circumstances, many may find deleting such a comment more beneficial. But remember, if you do so, you are running away from challenges. And ignoring negativity is not a good solution for overcoming it. Deleting negative comments without responding to them might infuriate the people who left the comments. This can lead to further negativity. So the best option is to reply and respond back to such comments.
This doesn't mean that you will text back misleadingly. Understand that negative comments are not always a bad thing. They can also motivate you by finding your mistakes. And if possible, you should always reply politely and can always try to turn negativity into positivity. Your readers should certainly appreciate your efforts and your wiseness.
How had I dealt with a recent negative comment?
This was the negative comment which I had received on 5th of July 2020 by MAM Gaming on my post "How India got its name?" This comment was terribly negative as it didn't only called my blog as the "worst website", but it also called me as a "worst person". This comment also called my post as old fashioned. Reading this comment for the first time, I also got furious and was about to comment something deliberately harsh. But instead I tried to turn this negativity into positivity. I tried to clear all the misconceptions of MAM Gaming and was sorry to dissatisfy him/her.
And as I had expected, my supporters who like my posts and enjoy reading them, supported me a lot. I am very happy and thank a lot to my supporters.
Conclusion:
So the bottom line is that ignoring or deleting negative comments is not always the best way to overcome negativity. Deleting negative comments without responding to them might infuriate the people who left the comments. This can lead to even further negativity. Understand that negative comments are not always a bad thing. If possible, always turn negativity into positivity by responding the comment politely. Your readers should certainly appreciate your efforts and your wiseness.
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
