What is history of Samsung?

  Samsung was founded by Lee Byung-chul in 1938. At first it used to trade groceries. Then the company extended to food processing, then slowly they began textile manufacturing and then insurance, securities and then retail.

  In the late 1960s, Samsung entered the electronics department and the first ever electronic item they produced was a black an white T.V. in 1970. Then in 1980, Samsung produced an advanced computer. The company kept introducing new products and they kept advancing. And today, as we all know, they company, has achieved a versatile rank.

  Today, many of us use Samsung products, from laptops, computers and T.V.s to mobile phones, digital cameras and refrigerators. But Samsung doesn't stop there... The company is much bigger than we think...

How big is Samsung?

  Since 1995, Samsung is the largest producer of memory chips. Numerous devices including the original iPhone use Samsung chipsets. Moreover, in 2011, Samung became the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. Since 2003, Samsung is the largest television manufacturer in the world. It is also the largest LCD screen manufacturer. 98% of the AMOLED displays are made from Samsung. Samsung also spends huge amounts of money in research and development. Samsung also has around 500,000 employees which are more than Apple, Microsoft and Google combined.

  But how is Samsung so successful? Well, here's the secret. Samsung is actually made up of 80 different businesses and subsidiaries which are legally independent but unified under one name- SAMSUNG.

  Samsung provides dvertising, construction, entertainment, financial services, hospitality, information and communications technology, medical and health care services, retail, shipbuilding and what not. Its subsidiaries include Samsung Electronics, Samsung Engineering, Samsung C&T Corporation, Samsung Heavy Industries, Samsung SDS, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, etc. 

  Samsung also makes cars with Renault.  Samsung's branch, Samsung Techwin, also provides military surveillance. Samsung Tecwin has also produced military robots and a full fledged military tank called as K9 Thunder. Samsung also has the most efficient shipbuilding in the entire world. If that is not enough, Samsung runs the biggest theme park in Korea which includes a zoo too. Samsung too has it's own Digital City. It has it's own clothing line called Samsung Fashion.

  And do you know who had a contract to build Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Patreons Towers in Malysia? It's Samsung.

  Just imagine. The company that dominates the smartphone market also builds jet engines and military equipments and some of the world's biggest ships, even constructs skyscrapers, has a medical research facility, a theme park and even finance institution, etc.

  The bottom line is that Samsung is a kind of company that tries to handle everything and tries to observe and iterate until they get bigger and eventually become the market leaders...
