Fog, dew and frost are some very different types of precipitation of water. They are rare as compared to other forms of precipitation of water. But how does fog, dew and frost form? Let's see...

How does fog form?

At times, the temperature of the air near the Earth's surface reduces. As a result, water vapor in the air condenses. This condensed vapor turns into microscopic and tiny water droplets. They are so tiny that they float in the air. Gradually the density of these droplets increase and visibility reduces. Thus, fog occurs.

How does dew form?

Sometimes, when air comes into contact with very cold objects, the vapor in it turns into liquid water drops. These water drops gets accumulated on the top of the cold objects, forming dew or dew drops.

How does frost form?

In rare conditions, when the atmospheric temperature is below 0°C, the dew drops freeze on top of the objects. This frozen drops are called as frost. They occur on a large scale in winters.
