  Almost all pen caps nowadays have a hole at its top. Still, even many adults keep distantly wondering why is it there???

What do we think the hole is there in the pen cap?

  The hole helps the ink to dry up faster, and so many paranoid customers think it as a vicious marketing strategy as the ink would dry up early and we would need more pens.

  While the hole does end up serving the purpose of equalizing the pressure to make it easier opening and closing the cap, a lot of the pens had holes into the sides of the caps making the pressure problem redundant. While quite a few kinds of pens have caps that can be screwed on, making air pressure not a problem at all.

Why there is a hole in the pen cap?

  So then what is the real reason behind the hole being there. Actually manufacturers realised that the pen cap might be swallowed one day by small children. So the hole in the cap might help such children from suffocating and dying. So aren't the manufacturers intelligent enough? They knew how much we love to put the cap in our mouth...
