Where did "Shot On iPhone" meme originate from?
We all are aware about the Shot On iPhone memes that have wrecked the internet since a year or more. But why are they so popular? And our today's topic, where did it originate from?
Basically, Shot On iPhone refers to a series of parody videos based on the Apple iPhone ad campaign "Shot on iPhone" where they showcased stunning amateur videos taken with their product.
The parodies which began in 2015 and are still popular now and resurfaced on TikTok in 2019 and various times on YouTube, featured comedic, problematic, disastrous or chaotic videos with the "Shot on iPhone" frame placed at the end.
The advertisements typical featured a short video that ends with a credit to the iPhone ow. On Jun 7, 2015, YouTuber Kyle ray uploaded a parody in which he includes the "Shot by iPhone" frame at the end of the 2015 Texas Pool Party Incident Video.
And then started a series of ultimate memes which have been entertaining the public for so long (almost 6 years now!).
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
