How did Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast) became a famous YouTube star?
Jimmy Donaldson, better known by his famous internet pseudonym MrBeast, is a famous YouTube star. He started a YouTube channel named MrBeast 6000 at the age of 12. It was a simple gaming channel. But how come now Jimmy Donaldson has become one of the most famous and admired YouTuber in the world? How did he become a famous YouTube star? Keep reading as I unfold more and more about his life, his career, YouTube, income, etc.
Jimmy started his YouTube channel at the age of 12 with the name MrBeast 6000. He played Call Of Duty and Minecraft on his gaming channel. Soon he started posting videos about incomes of famous YouTubers. Over time, he grew increasingly curious about the site’s economics. At one point, he filmed a series of videos estimating the earnings of top YouTube stars, starting with PewDiePie, the long-reigning king of YouTube.
All he had was his mobile and a laggy laptop!
Soon, his YouTube channel crossed 10,000 subscribers. MrBeast started to gain a following in 2015 and 2016 thanks to his "worst intros" series of videos, which rounded up and poked fun at YouTuber introductions he discovered on the platform. By mid-2016, MrBeast hit 30,000 subscribers.
In late 2016, MrBeast enrolled in college, although the details of his higher education are hard to come by. The YouTuber later said he lasted only two weeks in college before he dropped out. He wanted to crack the YouTube algorithm although!
MrBeast first went viral in January 2017, when he uploaded a video showing himself counting to 100,000 which he later revealed took him 44 hours. After that first video went viral, MrBeast found what the YouTube algorithm liked. He quickly amassed more views with similar stunts like spinning a fidget spinner for 24 hours and watching Jake Paul's "It's Everyday Bro" music video for 10 hours straight. By November 2017, MrBeast reached 1 million subscribers.
That's how he cracked the YouTube algorithm. Soon he started getting sponsors for his videos. But, instead of spending that money for himself, he donated that money and filmed it! That video too went so viral. Then he was assured for complete how the YouTube algorithm works. And what now!
He still puts on exhausting, hours-long stunts, as well as last-person-to-leave challenges in which he gives out thousands of dollars. These videos' titles range from "Going Through the Same Drive Thru 1,000 Times" to "Last To Remove Hand, Gets Lamborghini Challenge."
MrBeast also puts on attention-grabbing donation and charity stunts. He once opened up a car dealership where he gave out cars for free, and is known to dole out thousands of dollars to small streamers on Twitch and YouTube, as well as to waitresses and Uber drivers in person.
By December 2018, MrBeast had given out $1 million through his outlandish stunts, earning him the title of "YouTube's biggest philanthropist."
His each video nearly gets 20 million views. Everything comes full circle. Donaldson relies on viral giveaway campaigns to generate more interest from brands and create viral videos. His channel is consistently growing, and he’s considered one of the top creators working today.
He also has his 4 childhood friends with him- Chandler, Chris, Garret and Jake (The Viking).
He has managed to crack the YouTube algorithm and he can make almost unlimited money!
MrBeast, now 22 years old, was one of the most-viewed creators on all of YouTube in 2019. He has gained more than 20 million views on every video he has uploaded in the last year, displaying just how successful he is at going viral. His net worth isn't publicly available, but outlets have estimated it stands around $4 million to $6 million, with millions more made that he gives away in his videos.
Such a great YouTube star might be good for entertainment purpose for many people. However, he is an inspiration for many (like me) who want to go viral!
