Why were Google services all down yesterday?
Google services, including Gmail, YouTube and Google Drive faced a mass outage on yesterday (December 14). The outage lasted for around an hour and it affected Google users across the world. During the outage, millions of Google users were unable to access emails or Youtube.
This approximately 45 minutes outage was due to an internal storage quota issue. Services of Google requiring users to log in experienced high error rates during this period like Gmail, YouTube.
Just like our phone or laptops lag or hang when running low on storage, similarly Google servers were down due to internal storage quota issue.
Moreover, I think, this might be the only reason, Google is changing their storage policy.
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
