How to always win at Monopoly or business game using math?
If you are about to play this time consuming and often frustrating game of business, it is obvious that you will wish to win. However, using some maths and statistics, you can't win, but atleast you can tilt the odds in your favour. Here's how...
1. Buy properties aggressively.
Yes. While many players becomes choosy about buying properties at the start of the game, it is a good idea to buy properties aggressively without thinking at the start of the game. It is the worst strategy to turn your noses up for small properties. Once you have many properties, you can do whatever with it. But if you had slipped it in the start, your winning chances are drastically low.
2. You may skip utilities.
Utilities like railways, Airways, etc. have less yield, plus they can't be upgraded like other sites. So it is always a good idea to skip utilities and save for sites.
3. Spend money.
Many people prefer saving money. But that is not going to do anything for you. At the end, by saving money and not buying properties, you will regret. Not only you can't be benefited by the rent, but also you are left with nearly the same amount of money with which you started. And that is not going to help. But remember, you will have to d Dave some money to pay in rents and all our else you will become bankrupt.
4. Develop houses and hotels as early as possible.
Buying houses and hotels at the earliest, you will get huge amount of rent if someone lands there.
5. Remember that 7 is the most often roll (statistically).
Business is played with two dice. And taking all the possibilities into consideration, 7 is the number most likely to roll on the dice. Then comes 6 and 8, 5 and 9, 4 and 10, etc.
Bonus: Jail is the most landed place (statistically).
Yes, via community chest, chance, rolling, etc., jail is the most landed place. And with this and point 5. in the mind, you should have properties, nearby 7 places away from jail as, it has more chances of landing.
Bonus: Stay in jail.
It might seem counter-intuitive, but if you land in jail later in the game, when hotels fill the board, you can save money by staying there for your entire three turns, until you get out of jail. That way, if you're running low on cash, you won't have to dole out your remaining savings to your competitors by landing on their monopolies. Moreover, you can enjoy getting rents without losing money.
Now, enjoy your win in the next game...
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
