Why does paper turn yellow after sometime?
Got some old newspapers or age-old books? Why are they yellowish? Do you know why this happens? Let's see...
This happens mainly because of a chemical process called as oxidation. Oxidation is a chemical process in which a substance combines with oxygen.
Now, paper is primarily made up of wood. Wood is made up of cellulose and lignin. These two components in paper are likely to combine with oxygen. This, the paper color changers to yellow.
But did you know that newspapers turn yellow faster than books? This is because there is more lignin in newspapers than in papers made for books. And lignin is more likely to undergo oxidation as compared to cellulose.
Hence, newspapers turn yellow faster than papers of books.
Come on, share this fact with your friends...
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
