Why do wet clothes feel cold?
Did you ever wear wet clothes and noticed that they feel cold? But what is the reason behind this? Let's know...
It is basically due to latent heat of vaporization. Latent heat of vaporization is the amount of heat energy required to change a unit mass of liquid into vapour (Yep! It's the definition from my 10th grade textbook).
Now, the value of latent heat of vaporization of water is very high. The latent heat of vaporization of water is about 22.6x10⁵ joules per kilogram.
This means only 1 kilogram of water requires 22.6x10⁵ joules of heat energy to change to vapour.
But why am I telling you physics? Yeah! Now, when we wear wet clothes, the water present in them absorbs quite a lot of latent heat from our body and evaporates into the atmosphere, making us feel cold.
Posts before October 2021 have been marked as "Old Posts". Less likely, but they might have out dated or incorrect information, ugly looking bits of code, no labels, etc. Don't get me wrong, many of these posts are top-notch and interesting too.
I thought it would be better not to delete or revamp these posts, even if they suck. The bitter truth is that old works always suck, but I take that as a positive tool to convey that I am growing. Besides there's no better way to showcase my journey without these old, messy, poorly written posts!
