Is it okay to waste water?

70% of the Earth is covered with water. That's plenty. So is it okay to waste it? Let's see...

Although 70% of Earth is covered with water, of this, only 0.4% is fresh water. And only this much water is accessible to 8 billion people that live on the Earth. As far as statistics is concerned, 8 of 9 people lack access to clean water.

Here's a fact: 2/3rds of water used in the average home is used in the bathroom. And worse, it takes 6 litres to flush a toilet.

Women in rural India walk around 6km to fetch potable water. So it's no good to waste water. Let me set up the scenario:

In just 40 years, the world's population has doubled and the demand of water has quadrupled. But not the supply. So we should start conserving water. And if we continue to waste water with the same pace, by 2025, this will lead to 1.8 billion people to live without water.

A tap that drips one drop of water per second will waste 1 lakh litres of water in a year. So stop that tap and start to save water.

Conclusively, even though there is plenty of water on the Earth, only 0.4% of it is accessible to 8 billion people. Even though the demand for water has increased, the supply hasn't. So it's no good to waste water. Start conserving water. Save water, save life.
