Why do we say 'Hello' while picking up a phone?
What do you say when you answer a call? Probably Hello? Most of the people use Hello. But Why?
Earlier, when the telephone was invented by Graham Bell, Graham Bell told that when we pick up a phone, everyone should say 'Ahoy Hoy'. Slowly, 'Ahoy Hoy' became a very popular telephone greeting. Everyone started using it until Thomas Edison.
The use of hello as a telephone greeting has been credited to Thomas Edison. According to Thomas Edison, 'Hello' was a powerful word which can be heard from long away. Thus 'Ahoy hoy' became extinct and people started using 'Hello'.
